A convoy of police vehicles has descended on Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth to deal with the incident. They have set up in a nearby parking lot.
There are also officers patrolling the area and liaising with those in the camp.
It is not yet known how many caravans there are in the park, but photos suggest that there are at least two large residential units on the site.
Police are currently on the scene monitoring the site and preparing to conduct relevant risk assessments to determine if support is needed for the group. reports Dorset Live.
There has been a wave of traveler camps recently in several places in the south of the country, including with large numbers of caravans.
The last incident comes as a children’s movie wading pool was forced to close following a contamination incident following an unauthorized encampment near the site.
The Fleming Park swimming pool in Eastleigh, Hampshire, was closed on July 12 because it was “contaminated with human waste,” councilor Alex Bourne claimed.
The incident took place after police were notified of an unauthorized camp at nearby Places Leisure on Passfield Avenue around 7pm on Monday 11 July.
About 35 caravans and 40 vehicles arrived on the field behind the car park at the leisure centre.
Meanwhile, a school in Buckinghamshire was forced to close last week after a group of travelers arrived at the site.
Students from Oakgrove School in Milton Keynes had to study remotely because the travelers were on the school’s land.
In addition, travelers also forced the closure of a cafe and play area in Cornwall.
After being forced to leave the area, the travelers angered residents by moving just a few miles away in the same town.
