Matt Hancock clearly sees a future in television, as he seems to have founded his own TV company just months after his controversial role in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.
The West Suffolk MP got his first taste of reality TV when he took to the Australian jungle in November on the ITV1 series.
Despite receiving a large amount criticism for his appearance on I’m A Celeb and even after he lost the Tory whip, Mr. Hancock proved to be quite popular, reaching the final in third place.
It has since emerged that the former health minister earned a whopping £320,000 for the stint, with £10,000 donated to charityalthough the donation was described by many as ‘pathetic’ given the size of his fee.
Mr Hancock, 44, may not be done with TV as he founded the television programming and broadcasting company Greenhazel, of which he is listed as the sole director. The company is registered with Business House in January at an address in Newmarket, Suffolk.
It is not known what kind of TV shows Mr. Hancock plans to produce under the company, but it was previously reported that he hopes to start a television career, with speculation that he could lead documentaries.
In January, Mr Hancock again faced backlash after it was revealed he donated £10,000 from his £320,000 I’m A Celeb fee.
Before joining the show, it was said that Hancock would support St Nicholas Hospice Care with his paycheck, a charity for which he raised nearly £8,000 in 2021. London Marathon.
A spokesperson later confirmed Mr Hancock’s charitable donation to Metro.co.uk, saying: ‘As well as publicizing his dyslexia campaign to 11 million viewers, Matt’s donated £10,000 to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and the British Dyslexia Association. from the back of his appearance on I’m A Celebrity…Get me out of here.”
However, some believed the politician could have donated a larger amount, with one tweeting: “I see Hancock made £320,000 for I’m A Celeb and he gave £10,000 to charity. A whole 3.1% of the fee.
“I thought it was all about charity and raising awareness of his dyslexia campaign. Don’t tell me Matt wasn’t honest with the British public at large.’
Mr Hancock’s other TV work to date has included an appearance on Channel 4’s Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, for which he also earned £45,000 for his participation.
Mr Hancock served as health minister for nearly three years but resigned in June 2021 after it emerged he had broken his own Covid directive by kissing and hugging assistant Gina Coladangelo in his office.
