Mavenir, a fast-growing network software provider, today announced that it is partnering with multiple Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in Germany and the UK to deliver Cell Broadcast (CB) functionality. For the uninitiated, CB is a technical specification maintained by the 3GPP. It is basically a method of sending messages to multiple mobile phone users in a particular area at the same time.
This technology and functionality comes in handy when the users living in a particular area need to be alerted to something dangerous like natural disasters, earthquakes, terrorist attacks, public unrest and more.
MNOs must implement CB functionality
Brandon Larson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mavenir’s Multimedia Business Unit said MNOs should steadily implement CB to protect their users and strengthen mobile messaging capabilities.
The right message to a user at the right time can save not one, but many lives. Telcos around the world need to get started with the CB technology and get help from players like Mavenir to implement it.
Mavenir is already working with MNOs worldwide and the company may be able to help telcos with the implementation of CB functionality in a very effective and efficient way.
