Mavenir says not to compete with anyone

TelecomTalk interview

Mavenir, a global developer and supplier of can-native software, said it doesn’t compete with anyone in India. In an interview with TelecomTalk, Mavenir said it supports the multi-faceted policies of the Indian government and agrees that the Indian market is perfect for doing business at the moment.

Sanjay Raina, Vice President, Sales India & South Asia, Mavenir, said: “The policy is multifaceted when you see it. One facet is that they want to develop the local market. They openly embrace ORAN. That’s the biggest element. Why do they accept “This will allow for more participation. There are many areas of skill development and product development that they can do alone. That’s part of the policy, because they create openness and drive these programs.”

Sanjay shared many more insights with us 5GORAN and how Mavenir intends to navigate the competition in the Indian market.

Q. How does Mavenir intend to compete in India after being approved by the Government of India from a trusted source?

“I think we are not competing because we are working in a space that is already accepted by the government or the operators. They see that there is a clear mandate from management that they need to move towards something new in the technology field. It is something new that they also find very important. I think we’ll focus there,” Raina said.

Mavenir has already helped airtel performing India’s first Open RAN-based live 5G network validation. Raina said they are also already in talks with other Indian operators, which could mean Vodafone Idea or Jio or both could also partner with Mavenir in the future to conduct ORAN-based 5G testing.

Raina had told TelecomTalk that one of the main bets for Mavenir on the spread or growth of the ORAN in India is 5G.
