Which club does Prince William support?
The royal family may agree on many things, but football is not one of them.
You might think prince william has followed in his father’s footsteps when it comes to choosing which one american football support team.
However, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
King Charles supports Burnleyas the Prince of Wales applauds Aston Villa and has been present at many of their games over the past two decades.
He explained his reasoning for supporting Villa and said he did not want to follow in the footsteps of classmates who all chose to support Villa Manchester United or Chelsea.
Prince William said: “A long time ago at school I got into football big time. I was looking for clubs.
“All my friends at school were either Manchester United fans or Chelsea fans and I didn’t want to follow the regular teams.
“I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table and could give me more emotional roller coaster moments.
“Aston Villas has always had a great history. I have friends of mine who support Aston Villa and one of the first FA Cup matches I went to was Bolton v Aston Villa in 2000. Unfortunately, Villa lost to Chelsea.
“It was fantastic, I sat with all the fans wearing my red beanie, and I sat with all the Brummie fans and had a great time.
“It was the atmosphere, the camaraderie and I really felt there was something I could connect with.
“People like Paul Merson played and I thought if people like him can play as well as him, knowing he was struggling at the time…then this is a club I can support.
“I was also born in ’82, the year we won the (European) Cup, so I feel like the history and pedigree around Villa has always been pretty close to me.”
