The bombshell book of accounts from “insiders who have never spoken before” will uncover the intricate web surrounding the Sussexes and their relationship with the royal family. As a blow to the couple now living in California, the book reveals “an astonishing story of love, betrayal, secrets and revenge”.
Bower states that Meghan became close to the golfer in August 2014 while she was with her then partner, chef Cory Vitiello.
Meghan, then 33, met Rory, 25, while staying with a close friend near the Fitzpatrick Manhattan Hotel, where Mr. McIlroy had a suite, he writes.
During the ice bucket challenge craze, Mr. McIlroy “unexpectedly” nominated Meghan.
Bower writes: “She accepted the challenge on the condition that Rory come to her boyfriend’s apartment and personally pour the bucket over her on the balcony.
“After the video was posted, the two went to the Fitzpatrick hotel for a drink.”
Mr Bower claims they dined with a party of 20 people at the opulent Cipriani restaurant and were photographed close together.
He continues: “The next morning McIlroy arrived at the Ringwood golf course to play in a new league.
“Worse for wear and tear after a hectic night, it dropped to 101st place. His performance suffered. “I wasn’t quite in my game,” he confessed. ‘I was enjoying it’.”

A newspaper report from the time claimed that Meghan and Rory – a favorite to win the Open Championship at St Andrews this weekend – “looked very cozy”.
Bower writes that Rory was “annoyed” by the article and “challenged Meghan,” making it clear she hadn’t betrayed him.
Biographer Tom Bower, who has been described as “doing no punches”, has reportedly spent a year collecting all of the evidence and exclusive testimonials from both friends and foes of Meghan.
In 2021, Prince Harry caused a “tsunami of fear” among the royal family by revealing he will be releasing an all-encompassing book, which could drop “explosive truth bombs”.
