Disputing a new claim rejected by Apple iPhone 14 According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, according to his research, this has always been the plan.

The earlier report claimed that Apple had expected demand for the iPhone 14 series to be better than its predecessor. Specifically, it had ordered about six million more by the second half of 2022.

According to Kuo, the idea that these additional orders have now been reduced is false, as he doesn’t believe Apple has ever ordered a larger number.

The order reduction claim was specifically about the total number of iPhone 14 models, including both the regular and Pro models. Kuo goes on to say that he claims the Pros are so successful that Apple is ordering more, but that shouldn’t change the overall production tally.

“I reiterate my research finding that iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max shipping forecasts will increase by approximately 10%, benefiting the iPhone ASP/product mix for 4Q22,” he continued. “However, the order increase for iPhone 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, and price reduction 13 could offset the potential order decrease for iPhone 14 and 14 Plus.”

“Demand for iPhone 14 and 14 Plus is clearly subdued,” says Kuo. “So I expect total iPhone shipments in 2022/4Q22 to be roughly in line with consensus, despite a lot of people worrying about the recession,” he concluded.
