Mohamed Salah signs new Liverpool contract following cryptic Twitter announcement

Talks have been going on for some time about the 30-year-old’s future before his initial agreement expires in a year, but the Reds confirmed a renewal after a set of cryptic Twitter posts on Friday.

Ramy Abbas Issa, who represents the Egyptian in negotiations over a new contract at Anfield, tweeted a laugh-cry-face emoji in the early hours of the morning – indicating an update in the talks.

The official Liverpool account quoted Issa with a palm palm emoji, which led fans to question whether Salah was on the verge of signing a new contract or, in fact, collapsing the talks in public .

Finally, moments after his club’s placement, Salah tweeted a picture of himself relaxing by the pool on vacation.

The wing looked like the calmest person on Liverpool’s social media, while confused fans discussed what it all meant.

Indeed, a video was then uploaded of Salah casually flipping through his phone before putting on his shirt and confirming, “Salah stay.”

“I feel wonderful and [I am] excited to win trophies with the club. “It’s a happy day for everyone,” he told the club’s website. “It takes a while, I think, to renew, but now everything is done, so we just have to focus on what’s next.

“I think you can see for the past five or six years the team has always been going [upwards]. Last season we were close to four wins, but unfortunately we lost two trophies in the last week of the season.

“I think we are in a good position to fight for everything. We also have new signatures. We just have to keep working hard, have a good vision, be positive and go for everything again. ”
