Byron Stone’s revelation that he worked as an escort stunned just about everyone, including the portrait of… Neighbors legend Mrs Mangel (Vivean Gray), who fell from the wall.
The beloved busybody’s painting fell to the floor moments after her great-grandson Byron (Joe Klocek) told mom Jane Harris (Annie Jones) the truth about how he spends his time when not at work Toadie‘s (Ryan Moloney) law firm.
Byron, as viewers know, rocked Ramsay Street a few weeks ago and it was clear that he was hiding a big secret.
Jane, of course, wasn’t aware of Byron’s nighttime activities, and Byron intended to keep it that way, but an interesting discovery about one of his clients put him in a complicated situation†
Danielle Pendlebury (Christine Stephen-Daly), Byron’s regular, had a secret connection with Clive Gibbons (Geoff Paine) who, viewers know, is dating Jane.
Byron, believing Clive was cheating on his mother, decided to investigate further, blindfolding Danielle and snooping through her belongings, hoping to find some evidence to prove his theory.
However, Danielle caught him in the act and then told her discovery to Clive, who quickly took him to her house to comfort her.
Little did Clive know that Nicolette (Charlotte Chimes) had followed him to Danielle’s residenceand she would took some incriminating photos, which she then showed to Jane†
Clive insisted he wasn’t cheating on Danielle, but admitted he’d slept with her years ago—when she was a patient of his.
He explained that he was terrified that Danielle would speak out about their night together, ruining his career, which is why he has maintained some sort of relationship with her over the years.
Jane tried to process the discovery. However, Clive was eager to learn more about Byron’s role in revealing his secrets.
Nicolette tried to mate with her brother, but Byron had little choice and told his mother that Danielle is a client and that he works as an escort.
The revelation left Jane speechless and moments later the legendary portrait of Mrs. Mangel, painted by Helen Daniels in 1987, fell from the wall.
Ms. Mangel, as long-time viewers will recall, lived on Ramsay Street between 1986 and 1988, during the height of Neighbours’ popularity.
The character, who was Jane’s grandmother, was known for her meddling manners, her constant clashes with Madge Bishop (Anne Charleston), and her opinion of just about everything and everyone.
It’s safe to say she would have a lot to say about her great-grandson’s profession, that’s for sure.
Neighbors airs weekdays at 1:45pm and 6pm on channel 5.
