A DRIVER has revealed how they make hundreds every week using a 'tradeplate' side hustle.
Chris, from Trade Plate Travels, explained how you can easily make money using just yourself drivers license.
In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, he explained that he spends his days off as a driver for a trading company dealership.
These are drivers hired by car dealers to pick up and deliver the cars that the company buys and sells.
Dealers are constantly buying from each other and also picking up stock from private sellers and auctions across the country.
And while major franchises may have their own dedicated driver, many rely on them freelancer contractors to get their engines from A to B.
Chris said: “I deliver and collect vehicles all over the UK.
'I'll pick up the vehicle and get to work on it test drive…we transfer the money online.
“Once that's done, I drive it back to my house and park it in my garage overnight.
“The next morning I take it to the dealer and head out for my next delivery.”
According to Chris, license plate drivers are paid an hourly rate or a per-mile reimbursement.
The latter is more flexibleThis means you'll be rewarded more accurately for longer journeys, but you'll also lose out on money if you spend extra time in traffic.
For reference, he made a trip out of it Hampshire to Weston-super-Mare to pick up a van and left with £114 for the day's work.
Plus, all his expenses are covered, including train tickets to get to the pickup and gas money.
However, there are a few things you may want to consider before hopping on board.
He continued: 'I love driving with plates.
“You have the freedom to work when you want… and take time off when you want.
“The downside of that is that you don't get paid if you do have a day off.
“No holiday pay, no sick pay.”
He also pointed out that while it is a great way to do that earn extra moneyit's still a relatively low wage for long hours, so it wouldn't be sustainable as a full-time position.
Finally, you rely on public transport and the road network for your work, so “one missed train or one big traffic jam” can throw off your entire schedule.
And if you have to get up early the next morning for your day's work, delays can cause you to fall asleep.
Nevertheless, Chris still highly recommended riding a trade plate, especially for those who want to get out and see a bit more of the nation and get paid while doing so.
