Nameless, homeless ram finally escapes the dog house

There is a happy ending to one’s story ram without a housewho spent about two months in a dog house.

The ram was seized by the New Plymouth District Council (NPDC) after it was found running loose in Waitara in January.

No one had come looking for the ram, and city officials had been unable to identify its owner.

So the unnamed, homeless ram went to auction on Thursday, where it was given a new permanent home on a farm in Urenui.

Kimberley Laurence, the NPDC’s acting compliance leader, said that while his previous owner has not come forward, the council had arranged for two people to take him on.

“We are delighted to say that the ram has a new home on a farm in Urenui,” said Laurence.

“It’s a great result for the ram. His new owner has decided to name him Aubrey as he was found in Aubrey St in Waitara.”

Proceeds from Thursday’s auction went back to supporting the Dog Pound, which garners about 3,500 calls a year about animals.
