Neighbor legend Jackie Woodburne spilled the tea on the beloved soap’s final scene, revealing it was nothing short of emotional filming.

The Susan Kennedy star, who narrates the final chapter of the Australian series before fans say goodbye to it forever, said the cast was almost in tears during the filming.

Speak with Carol Vorderman on Wednesday Lorraine, Jackie said, ‘I can’t tell you how emotional it was.

“The challenge for all of us to film that very last episode was that the scene was a very joyful, happy scene, but we were all so emotional, we were a second away from tears the entire time, so it was a huge acting challenge to not to stage our own grief.’

Jackie added that she was thrilled to have the chance to narrate that last scene.

Her admission comes just weeks after Ben Frow, boss of Channel 5revealed that his decision to drop out Neighbors was simply a ‘business’, claiming that the money is ‘better spent’ making UK programming.

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that the iconic and long-running Australian soap would end early this month.

The decision was met with fierce criticism and fans wasted little time fighting back because they started a petition to save the show

However, despite their best efforts, Neighbors will end in days like production company Fremantle could not find another broadcasting partner after Channel 5 withdrew.

When asked whether continuing to make the show for a British audience was a possibility, Frow admitted it was, but went on to say he decided to spend the money on “UK shows”, which he claims are a better use of the funds.

“Or I could spend the money on other things, that’s what I decided to do,” he said radio times† ‘I’d better spend the neighbours’ money on shows in the UK.’

Channel 5 controversially decided to drop Neighbours, a staple of the UK daytime TV show for 37 years, in favor of ‘original British drama’, which the broadcaster claims has ‘strong appeal’ to audiences.

The final episode of Neighbors will air on July 29 at 9pm and viewers can expect to see a slew of Erinsborough icons both on the final outing and in the days leading up to it.

Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan, who played sweethearts Charlene and Scott Robinson in the late ’80s, will reprise their iconic roles in the show’s final episode.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV and Neighbors airs weekdays at 1:45pm and 6pm on channel 5.
