Slipping during last Thursday’s severe weather closed both southbound lanes on Eastern Hutt Road.
Both southbound lanes on Eastern Hutt Road in Lower Hutt will remain closed, while a new temporary road layout will be constructed from Monday, following a slippage from heavy weather.
Two major landslides on Eastern Hutt Road last week, two southbound lanes were closed and one northbound lane was converted for southbound traffic.
From Monday morning there will be a new layout between the roundabout at the Eastern Hutt Road and High Street intersection and the Stokes Valley roundabout, while also applying temporary speed limits.

A new road layout at the Stokes Valley roundabout from Monday morning after a Thursday slip.
Hutt City Council said while the briefs were being cleared on Friday, there was still an ongoing risk of further slips as more slips rain is forecast this week.
While the new layout could reduce traffic delays in the area, it warned that journey times would not return to normal and the scheme could take several months.
The council also said there would be electronic signboards on any approach to Eastern Hutt Rd to remind motorists of the new layout, while those traveling further north from Stokes Valley should use State Highway 2 rather than Eastern. Hutt Road.

A new Eastern Hutt Road/High Street road layout will begin Monday morning after slips on Thursday.
Chief Executive Jo Miller said a permanent solution would be away for some time due to the nature of the briefs.
“We will know more once the geotechnical report is received and considered,” she said.
