New smartphones will be on display at the Mobile World Congress trade show

During the annual industry event, mobile companies present their new and current devices to the public.

Nokia has already confirmed it will be showing three new handsets, including the G22, which includes several repairable parts that owners can repair themselves if they wish.

Elsewhere, the show will be dominated by devices from Chinese manufacturers, with Honor, Xiaomi, Oppo and others all present.

Building on recent events, expect a lot of attention for satellite connectivity and eSIM solutions

Reports suggest that a number of foldable smartphones are likely to be announced at the event.

However, it is unlikely to see new products from various industry heavyweights, including Samsungwhich last month announced its new flagship Galaxy S23 series of smartphones at a standalone event alongside a new laptop range.

Fellow smartphone giant Apple won’t be going to MWC, while Google isn’t using the event to announce new phones either.

Tablets and wearables are also expected to feature prominently at the show, which traditionally attracts thousands of visitors over four days.

Industry expert Paolo Pescatore, from PP Foresight, said: “All the major players have unveiled new devices or plan to do so at separate events.

“This show represents an important platform for rival disruptive Asian players to showcase their capabilities to a global audience.

“The show floor will be flooded with demos, vendors selling networking solutions and telcos looking to bring immersive content to life through the power of gigabit connectivity.

“Aside from all the glitz and glamour, an important prominent theme will emerge that it is time to deliver on the promise of 5G.

“Building on recent events, we expect a lot of attention for satellite connectivity and eSIM solutions.”
