Newham: Horror as woman stabbed to death and another injured

Murder investigation launched after two women were stabbed Newhamleaving one dead and the other hospital.

The two women were found around 3.35 am on Sunday morning by officers who had suffered stab wounds at a residential address in Windmill Lane. metropolitan police said.

One of the women, in her fifties, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other woman, in her thirties, was taken to hospital.

The second woman’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Police are looking for a man known to both women.

Further details about the man have not been released.

Superintendent Lisa Parker, of the Met’s North East BCU, said: “My thoughts and sympathies go out to both these women and their friends and family.

“I know the people in Newham and especially those in the Stratford area will be shocked and concerned by this tragic incident. I share their concern and can assure them that specialized detectives are working hard to identify and arrest those responsible.

“Local officers will be patrolling the area and I urge anyone with information or concerns to speak to those officers. They are there to protect and support you.”
