NothingPhone1 does not have a flagship processor

TL; DR

  • Nothing Phone 1 comes with a Snapdragon 778G Plus chipset.
  • This is a relatively powerful midrange processor.
  • Nothing is said to have chosen this SoC because of its performance, cost, and power consumption.

Nothing Phone 1 is still about two weeks old, but the company claims to publish a drip feed of information for the device’s launch. Currently, no one has confirmed that they have selected the chipset for their first phone.

Founder Karl Pay said nothing InputMag Phone 1 is equipped with the upper midrange Snapdragon 778G Plus SoC. It wasn’t a flagship SoC at the time, but it’s certainly one of the best choices on paper if you need to choose a midrange processor.

The Snapdragon 778G Plus features a 6nm manufacturing process and a very powerful octa-core CPU (4 Cortex-A78 and 4 Cortex-A55). Adreno642LGPU and X535G modem are also available.

Modems can technically support both millimeter waves and sub 6GHz 5G, but I’m guessing nothing skips the previous standard if the phone doesn’t come to the United States. Omitting mmWave 5G also reduces costs by eliminating the need to include associated antenna modules and other components.

Why choose midrange silicon?

So why didn’t you choose this chipset?Pay said input The Snapdragon 778G Plus was chosen because it is related to performance, power consumption, and cost. The company also argued that the chipset was better suited than the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 family and Snapdragon 7 Gen1 in terms of power savings and heating.

Curiously, nothing has told the outlet that Qualcomm has added wireless and reverse wireless charging to the Snapdragon 778G Plus.

These are features that are typically reserved for Qualcomm’s flagship mobile chipsets. Will not tell you anything input Qualcomm has added these two features specifically for Phone1.

I’m not sure about this claim, as mobile phones like the Pixel 5 offered wireless and reverse wireless charging, even though they used the older Snapdragon 765G processor. Therefore, Nothing Phone 1 is not the first Snapdragon 700 series phone with these features.

In any case, it’s clear that NothingPhone1 doesn’t have the flagship power. However, there are more devices than silicon, so we look forward to seeing more specs and official prices.

What do you think of the chipset Nothing chose?
