- A training video teaches officials about ‘white privilege’ and ‘being an ally’
- It states that Britons are ‘part of a society, norm, culture or system that is racist’
- But it was blasted by a Whitehall official who labeled it “divisive nonsense”
- The official added: ‘The term ‘white privilege’ has no place in government’
A training video teaches officials that Britain is a ‘racist’ country and that white officials should avoid clashes with people of ethnic minorities.
The reel is currently being shown to employees of the Equalization, Housing and Communities Department.
It tells bureaucrats to be aware of their “white privilege” and to strive to be “allies,” De Telegraaf reports.
But it was criticized by a Whitehall official, who called it “divide”, adding that it was “designed to brainwash thousands of officials with an ideological agenda”.
The video reads: “Becoming an ally means, above all, recognizing that we ourselves are part of a society, norm, culture or system that is racist.
“For many of us who are white or white, meaning we are often identified as white in public spaces, the color of our skin, race or ethnicity has not negatively impacted our lives. We call this “white privilege”.
The video, uploaded to the Leveling, Housing and Communities Department’s website in 2019, sparked anger among some Whitehall workers
“You may experience many other struggles and challenges in your lifetime, but they are very unlikely to be related to your race.
That’s why adding your voice to anti-racism can help amplify your message, support your colleagues and give them five times the time to heal and recover from a battle they’ve fought their entire lives, often generations. ‘
The video, uploaded to the department’s website in 2019, sparked anger among some Whitehall employees.
A government source told The Telegraph: ‘The civil service is pursuing a policy parallel to the government on diversity and inclusion in the name of social justice.
“The term white privilege has no place in government.
“This divisive nonsense is designed to brainwash thousands of officials with an ideological agenda.”
Permanent Secretary Jeremy Pocklington heads the Leveling, Housing and Communities Department. He was appointed in March 2020 and has been a civil servant for 25 years.
A spokesperson for the department said: ‘This video is almost three years old and helps staff have important conversations about racing.
;We keep an eye on all our material.’
