Ominous radar shows severe storm spreading across US | American news

A weather radar shows a huge and intense storm of tornadoes killing at least 23 people and continuing to plow through the US.

The storm's radar update showed a massive system of mostly red and orange colors, surrounded by some green, moving southeast through Texas cities including Lewisville, Carrollton, McKinney, Plano, Garland, Irving and Dallas.

Wind speeds of 130 km/h were recorded, with “large hail possible”, the newspaper said National Weather Service Office in Fort Worth/Dallas Tuesday around 6:15 am.

A tornado warning was in effect at the time and the rotation occurred near Sunnyvale and quickly moved southeast.

“Take cover now!” wrote the office on X (formerly Twitter).

The storm spawned devastating tornadoes across America's central and southern regions over Memorial Day weekend. On Sunday it was recorded as the most active severe storm so far this year.

Nearly two dozen people, including four children, died in Texas, Arkansas, Alabama, Kentucky and Oklahoma CNN.

At least eleven tornadoes were reported and more than 400,000 residents in seven states lost power on Monday evening. The independent.

Thunderstorms and strong winds are also affecting the northeast New York City on Monday.

Meanwhile, severe weather warnings were extended into Tuesday in some states, including the Lone Star State.

In Valley View, Texas, two women were driving on a road Saturday evening when a tornado crossed their path. Valenia Gill and Brenda Proctor Dance had just left a singer show when the rain started blowing sideways and wind and hail lashed their car.

“We're in the middle of the tornado, Brenda. What shall I do?' shouted Gill, thus FOX Weather. “The car is shaking.”

A video they shared on social media showed the car jerking and the video briefly going blurry.

“Cover your head,” you heard Dance say. “Cover your head.”

The women survived the ordeal, and Dance later wrote on social media, “We made it back feeling like I have a headache now…so grateful we were actually able to drive away.”
