Open University student shot dead by suspected cult members in Kwara

A computer science student from Ilorin Open University, Kwara state, Mohammed Isiaka, 23, was shot and killed by suspected cult members on July 12.

A statement from the spokesman for the state police command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, says that at about 4:30 p.m., the state police received information that a group boys suspected of being cult members visited Mohammed’s home in the Akerebiata neighborhood of Ilorin and shot him in the chest.

Ajayi said C Division police officers, who rushed to the crime scene after receiving the information, took the victim to the UITH, where it was confirmed that the victim was dead by a doctor on duty.

The victim’s body has been placed in custody for an autopsy.

The spokesman added that the state police commissioner has ordered a discreet and results-oriented investigation into the matter.

“The good people of KWARA state, especially the residents of the area, are advised to continue their legal business as adequate security measures have been put in place to prevent any revenge attack. The CP also assures the PEOPLE that the perpetrators of the heinous act would be caught and prosecuted.”
