Palestine march in London results in 40 arrests and police officers injured | British news

Three police officers were injured and 40 people were arrested during a protest in London in return for Israelinto war Gaza, Palestineon Tuesday evening.

One officer suffered serious facial injuries after being hit by a bottle thrown by the crowd gathering in Downing Street.

Two officers escaped with minor injuries.

Police are working to identify the suspect who threw the bottle.

If protests continue on college campusesA pro-Palestinian demonstration began outside Westminster at around 6 p.m.

Dozens of Palestinian flags and banners were raised above one deadly Israeli airstrike on a camp in Gaza on Sunday which killed at least 45 people.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign, one of the organizing groups, said about 10,000 people attended the march.

The protest was scheduled to end at 8 p.m., police said in a statement. Most left without incident.

A group of 500 stayed behind and police arrested dozens for non-compliance. Some resisted arrest, forcing officers to use force.

As the crowd dispersed, the remaining protests marched towards Bridge Street, just outside Westminster Station, where a police cordon had been placed.

“Further options were given to enable the group to meet the conditions,” the force said in a statement on X.

'They were also told that their actions caused a blockage of the highway.

“Shortly before 10 p.m., officers wearing protective equipment began a series of arrests, entering the crowd and pulling out those suspected of leading a segregated protest.

“A total of 40 people were arrested for offenses including violating the terms of the Public Order Act,” referring to what is widely seen by campaigners as an anti-protest law'obstruction of the highway and attacks on emergency workers.'

Around 2 a.m., police said all protesters had since left the area and Bridge Street had reopened.

The PSC shared footage of the protest outside Downing Street just after 7pm, with hundreds of people chanting: 'Blood on your hands.'

“Our government and the Labor leadership have supported Israel while it commits genocide,” the group said.

'They have blood on their hands. They must call for a #CeasefireNOW and #StopArmingIsrael.”
