It resumed after the Palmerston North street was blocked while police were searching for someone.
A police media spokesman said the Maxwells line was closed Wednesday at 11:25 am and police could execute an arrest warrant.
An armed criminal squad is called for help and is manipulating a cordon on the Maxwells line.
The road was reopened by 12:30 pm.
