Photographer Ans Westra has reportedly passed away

Photographer Ans Westra, best known for her work capturing the country’s cultural and generational changes on film, has reportedly passed away.

Wellington journalist Jeremy Rose reported on Facebook that the artist has passed away.

“What sad news that the extraordinary Ans Westra has passed away,” Rose wrote.

Westra is known for her evocative black and white photographs of common kiwi life, especially in some of Aotearoa’s most remote settlements.
