Police arrested man who allegedly entered house armed with gun before being attacked

A man has been arrested for allegedly entering a house while armed with a gun and assaulting someone.

Police say the man went to a property belonging to Ōtaki in the early hours of July 9, and entered and assaulted another man.

The attacked man managed to escape through a window, but not before sustaining multiple injuries.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man on Tuesday after executing a search warrant.

They also found a cut off .22 firearm.

The man, who was charged with injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, unlawful possession of a firearm and recklessly firing a firearm, is in custody until July 27.
