1st – Manchester City
“I thought they would win the league last season. It wasn’t as easy as I expected, but they got through it in the end.
“They have lost a few players – Raheem Sterling will be a big miss I think – but they have enough quality to fill in.
“The great signing – Erling Haaland – I just think he could pulverize the Premier League, really. He could score a bucket full of goals.
He will have a smashing season and take the league by storm. You can’t see past Manchester City this year.’
2nd – Chelsea
“If you look at last season, when you bring in Romelu Lukaku, you have to play to his strengths and work around him.
“Chelsea are not really that team and they weren’t. When he came out of the team he lost a bit of confidence and it’s not hard to see why as he’s not really a Thomas Tuchel type of player. But I think he will do well at Inter Milan, like he did before.
“This season I put Chelsea in second place.”
3rd – Liverpool
“I thought they might have a hard time last season, after giving it all year before, but they were there all the time.
“This season I’m going for third place. I think two teams will be better than them.
“Losing Sadio Mane was a blow and I think they could be in a transition period. I don’t see them there, challenging for the title, I just can’t.
“But they will do well and maybe finish third. The front three are disappearing, but it will be interesting to see how Darwin Nunez does in his first season.’
4th – Tottenham
“Harry Kane wanted to leave around this time last year, I thought that would upset him and affect his and Tottenham’s season. Fair game for him as he came back and scored the goals.
“This season they have made some exciting purchases and they have made them at the early doors as well. When I go into the season I think they will be locked and loaded and ready to go.
“Son Heung-min picks up where he left off… I’m back for fourth place for Spurs.
“I don’t think they have the quality to mingle with the big boys at the top of the league table, but they will be back in the Champions League places.”
5th – Arsenal
“They had a hard time at the beginning of last season, it was a terrible start. It was terrible and Mikel Arteta was the favorite to be fired.
“They continued, but it was also a disappointing end to the season. Looking at this summer, Gabriel Jesus is a huge signing, huge. I don’t think he’s getting the credit he deserves.
Arsenal are screaming for that type of player and I think he’s going to do really well.
“I think they will have a good season and win some big games against some big teams, but I think they will just miss the Champions League places.”
6th – Manchester United
“Signing Cristiano Ronaldo was huge and he is not the problem. Ronaldo did what he was brought in for: scoring goals. That’s what you get from him.
“The problem is the rest at Manchester United. There is just so much speculation around them and as soon as they tie or lose a match the internet explodes.
“Then players read it and lose confidence. Harry Maguire can play a bad ball and the fans are after him.
“This summer they will be associated with players left, right and centre, and I don’t think it will be a regular squad at the start of the season.
“I’m going for sixth, I still don’t think they have enough to mix it into the Champions League places.
“It won’t be as smooth sailing as some people think. Erik ten Hag is a great manager and he will make sure they play a style of football, but I don’t think they have enough to get back into the top four.”
