Premier League ins and outs

The 2022 summer transfer window is in full swing, and several Premier League clubs have been in the market as they try to bolster their squads ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Liverpool have made the most expensive signing of the window so far, bringing in Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez for a club record £ 85m from Benfica.

Comparisons will be made between Nunez and new Manchester City player Erling Haaland, who joins the champions after paying his £ 51m release clause to sign him at Borussia Dortmund.

City want to strengthen further with the acquisition of Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who is expected to join the club for a fee of around £ 45 million.

Spurs were one of the most active clubs in the first few weeks of the transfer window. Brazilian forward Richarlison is the latest addition to their squad after agreeing a £ 60m deal with Everton.

Some of their other notable signings include Ivan Perisic, who was reunited with former manager Antonio Conte after joining Inter Milan on a free transfer, and Yves Bissouma, who joins Brighton for a £ 35m fee.

Meanwhile, rivals Arsenal have signed Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira for £ 34m, and an official announcement is expected soon by Gabriel Jesus who has completed his medical treatment ahead of a £ 45m move.

It is rumored that both North London clubs were also involved in the ongoing saga surrounding Leeds wing Raphinha. Arsenal have apparently turned down a bid, and while Barcelona are still interested, Chelsea are apparently leading the race to sign the Brazilian international.

Although they have not made any purchases yet, Chelsea are trying to strengthen their attacking options in an attempt to replace Romelu Lukaku who has returned on loan to Inter Milan.

In addition to Raphinha, there are rumors that Chelsea are interested in Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and have made an attempt to hijack Spurs’ deal for Richarlison.

Manchester United have also not yet made any signatures, but reports indicate that similarities are close to similarities for Feyenoord’s left-back Tyrell Malacia and Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
