Meghan Marklea and Prince Harry According to royal author Tom Bower, they are “burning up” their celebrity status in the US. Speaking to Palace Confidential, the royal biographer said the couple struggled to stay relevant as interest in the former working royals waned. He said the Sussexes will eventually have to “give up” their royal status and find another brand if they want to continue to be seen as celebrities in America.
Bower recently published a biography of Meghan Markle entitled Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors.
The royal author claimed that the Sussexes had overused their “royal card” and Americans were no longer interested in the pair.
He told Palace Confidential host Jo Elvin: “When Meghan called on two US senators to campaign for maternity benefits, she introduced herself as Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.
“She plays the royal card all the time.
“I don’t think that would play well in a Congress or Senate election if she pursued politics.”

Mr Bower continued: “I think they need to rearrange their image.
“In any case, they are now burning up their royal status pretty quickly.
“I think they will eventually have to give that up because it won’t wash.”
Ms. Elvin asked, “Can they keep their particular kind of celebrity going?”
