Prince Harry ‘scoured social media every night for hateful comments during Australia tour’ | Royal | News

Royal biographer Tom Bower said the Sussexes received an “ecstatic” reception in Australia for their 2018 tour. But Bower claimed the mood in Harry and Meghan’s camp was “miserable”.

In his new book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, Bower highlighted how “great crowds cheered” for the couple during the journey they began by announcing the Duchess’ pregnancy.

In an excerpt in the Times, the biographer said: “The Commonwealth, everyone agreed, would be strengthened by the birth of the royal family’s first mixed-race child in the present era.

“Harry and Meghan would lead the way in modernizing the monarchy.

“During those first days, the tour was perfect.

“Their daily success, captured by glowing photos, sent Australia’s Republicans on a retreat.”

However, Mr Bower said the mood in Sussex headquarters was “contrary to wretchedness”.

He said: “Every night Harry scoured social media for hateful comments on the internet.

“Every morning, he and Meghan turn on their phones to surf the web.
