Prince Harry’s statements to the British press in his eloquent memoir ‘Spare’ have been criticized by former Sunday Mail editor-in-chief Martin Clarke. Mr Clarke was talking to Dan Wootton on GB news on Thursday evening when they spoke about the Duke of Sussex’s claims to the British press in his memoir.
Mr Clarke highlighted one of the cases, saying: “There is a wonderful passage in the book where in the lead up to the famous dog bowl fight with William where he accuses William – when William accuses Meghan of bullying, being a troublemaker and disturbing everyone – and says ‘you just repeat what you read in the press’.
“That is so retarded it boggles the mind because William was clearly there.
William saw it first hand or heard first hand accounts from the people involved and yet Harry blames the press and this is the real contradiction in the middle of the book because on the one hand Harry hates the press. “
He went on to explain how Harry has been critical of the British media.
Even during the Netflix documentary series, Harry and Meghan talked about their relationship with the British media.
Mr Clarke continued: “We are the big boogie man of all his whole life, but at the same time he is attacking William and Camilla for leaking stories about him that he does not deny.
“He does not deny that these stories are true.
So he can’t have both.

“The press cannot, on the one hand, be people who invent things and at the same time print things that his own family, he claims, leaks about him.”
The GB news presenter also mentioned how Prince Harry “forgot to mention” that William had “made up his own mind about Meghan before a single word was published in the British press” about any disagreements between the four, because they actually fooled us for a long time.
He said: “It wasn’t until November 2018 that I wrote the first story where Kate and Meghan had a disagreement over Meghan’s treatment of the staff members.”
Mr Clarke responded in agreement, saying: “They (Kate and Meghan) never got along in the first place and when you look at some of the stuff we’ve all written and printed it’s a little embarrassing that we’re kidding held.

“They were talking about the Fab Four and it was more like behind the scenes of Let it Be than Hard Day’s Night or anything.
“This is what I think people don’t understand about the press is that the press works really hard, especially the tabloid press, because it’s really embarrassing to get it wrong.”
