Like many senior Russian officials who died in the war with Ukraine, it is unclear exactly where, when or how he died.
During the conflict of the past four months, Russia has often delayed reporting deaths for weeks in an effort to cover up the toll of the war from the public.
Russian paratrooper Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Moskvichev, 45, was the country’s 60th colonel to be confirmed in the war and has been buried with military honors ever since.
At least one more Russian general is reported to have been killed in a rocket attack by Himars, which could further increase the death toll of senior officials.
Chornobaivka in the Kherson region was heavily attacked by rockets, which was hailed as part of a countermeasure against Russian forces continuing their invasion of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Southern Military Command said in a statement: “Based on the results of our missile and artillery units, the enemy lost 52 (people), an Msta-B howitzer, a mortar and seven armored and other vehicles, as well as a ammunition depot in Nova Kachovka.”
But a Russian-installed official in Kherson gave a different version of events, claiming that at least seven people had been killed and civilians and civilian infrastructure had been affected.
The area in question is once that Russia quickly conquered during the war Moscow describes as a “special military operation” in its ex-Soviet neighbor.
In recent days, Ukrainian officials have talked about rallying up to a million troops with the aim of retaking southern parts of the country now under Russian control.
