The threat was raised at the start of a NATO summit in Spain, where allies will gather to condemn Russia’s actions in Ukraine. Russia claimed that Western satellite operators were all working for Russia’s enemy, Ukraine.
Speaking to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Roscosmos said: “The entire conglomerate of private and state orbital groups is now working exclusively for our enemy.”
NATO members have expressed support for Ukraine during the conflict and have openly sent weapons to the country to defend itself against Kremlin attacks.
Prior to Putin’s invasion, US satellite imaging company Maxar, which works with the US Department of Defense, took images from above Ukraine showing the build-up of Russian troops on the border.
These images were published when the Kremlin denied that it was preparing to invade or threaten Ukraine.
The coordinates of buildings, such as the Pentagon and the location where the NATO summit is taking place, have been published by Russia.
Rogozin wrote on Telegram: “Today the NATO summit opens in Madrid, where Western countries will declare Russia their worst enemy.
“Roscosmos published satellite photos of the summit location and the ‘decision centers’ that Ukrainian nationalists support.”

One of the key elements that prompted Putin to invade Ukraine was the country’s desire to join NATO.
The Russian president tried to justify his “special military operation” by saying it acted to protect Russian speakers from persecution and to prevent NATO from using Ukraine to threaten Russia’s security.
Both Ukraine and NATO have dismissed the claim as a baseless and unfounded cause for war.
