QT audience member criticizes Starmer’s Labor for Tory bashing – ‘Don’t get ideas!’ | Politics | News

A Question Time audience member has berated Britain’s two largest political parties for mocking each other and accused Labor of not coming up with ideas. The comment came when Fiona Bruce presented the final episode of the BBC’s main political panel show of the series.

Ms Bruce was joined by Tory MP Bim Afolami, Labor MP Chris Bryant, NFU President Minette Batters, NEU President Mary Bousted and Telegraph journalist Olivia Utley for last night’s episode in Torquay, Devon.

The audience member said: “I think the main concern is moving forward because, as it turns out tonight, there is still a bit of sniping going on between the two sides.

“And many of the people standing now…three weeks ago they voted to keep Boris in [said] “We are stepping away, starting a new kind of mandate, showing we have nothing to do with it and standing for prime minister.”

Five Conservative MPs remain in the running to replace Boris Johnson as Prime Minister and leader of the Tory party.

Ex-Chancellor Rishi Sunak is the current frontrunner among MPs, with Commerce Secretary Penny Mordaunt in second place.

Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, ex-Equality Minister Kemi Badenoch and Tonbridge & Malling MP Tom Tugendhat are also in the running.

The audience member turned her attention to Mr Bryant, adding: “The Labor Party is great at criticizing, but they don’t really come up with ideas.”

She also suggested that a Labor-led government could leave the country “entangled” in investigations and investigations in what she described as “more mess by the parties”.
