THE Queen’s traditional Balmoral welcome ceremony will not take place as usual this week – as it has instead been replaced by a “small private event”.

Usually she inspected a guard of honor from Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, for all to see.
But this year, the inspection will instead be held privately, Buckingham Palace confirmed.
A spokesman for the Palace told The Sun: “This year’s event will take place inside the castle gates.”
Her major will still have her eye on the soldiers, but it is clear that no TV cameras, photographers or reporters will be invited.
The palace has maintained that the alternate ceremony is “in line with adjusting Her Majesty’s schedule for her comfort”.
But a royal source told the mirror: “The traditional welcome to Balmoral is normally set in the Queen’s calendar and something Her Majesty really enjoys being able to greet the locals who travel to see her.
“It is a bitter disappointment that the ceremony will not take place in its traditional form.”
The Queen, who serves as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, has scaled back her duties to deal with ongoing mobility issues.
She arrived in the Highlands last month and will be in the seven-bed for ten weeks Craigowan Lodge.
A steel ring has been erected around the property and a new £20,000 wheelchair accessible lift has been installed to help her get around.
It follows her last trip to Scotland, for which she was seen walking unaided while on her way to catch the royal train.
The frost likes to spend her balmoral break surrounded by her family who take turns visiting.
Last year Kate and William came with their children George, Charlotte and Louis.
Edward and Sophie also visited Lady Louise and Viscount James.
