Quentin Tarantino became a father for the second time at the age of 59.
The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood director and wife Daniella Pick welcomed a daughter – a sibling for two year old son Leo – into the world on July 2, they have confirmed.
However, they did not share any further details about the baby, including her name.
They told People magazine in a statement: “Daniella and Quentin Tarantino are pleased to announce that Daniella gave birth to their daughter, a sister of Leo, their first child, on July 2, 2022.”
The married couple confirmed in February they were expecting another baby.
Quentin, 59, and Daniella, 38, were married in 2018 at their home in Beverly Hills, California, though they have lived in Tel Aviv, Israel for the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Kill Bill filmmaker, who has since traveled back to Los Angeles and recently resurfaced as a writer on Paolo Nutini .’s new albumpreviously explained how the pandemic changed their plans.
“The idea was that we were going to spend three to four months in Tel Aviv and three to four months in Los Angeles and then Covid hit,” he told host Jimmy Kimmel on his late-night show last summer.
“So three to four months turned into nine to twelve months!”
Meanwhile, he revealed that his little boy helped him learn Hebrew while they both watch children’s TV.
He shared that his son’s only word at the time was “Abba,” which means “Dada” in Hebrew, and joked, “And a third of the time he means me.”
The Oscar winner added: “I actually learn a lot from Leo because he watches this kind of baby TV stuff and it’s all in Hebrew, so I’m learning with him.”
The proud parents almost renamed their son, as Quentin thought people would see it as a tribute to Leonardo DiCaprio, with whom he collaborated on films like Django Unchained and Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood.
‘We almost didn’t mention him’ [Leo] because people would assume I named him after Leonardo DiCaprio,” he admitted.
“There’s nothing wrong with that, but not me. He was named after my wife’s grandfather, but also because, deep in our hearts, he was our little lion.’
