Rachel Stevens has revealed that she and her husband Alex Bourne made the ‘difficult decision’ to end their marriage.
The former S Club 7 star (44) used her Instagram story to share the news with her followers and wrote: ‘I just wanted to share it with you after the time and since the difficult decision was made for Alex and I to to divorce.
‘While we are no longer partners in marriage, our partners in parenting will remain for our beautiful girls and continue to love and respect each other.
“I feel so incredibly grateful for the life we have built together and will now be focused on moving forward together as a family.”
Rachel and Alex were to celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary, after getting married in August 2009 at Claridge’s in London.
The couple were child lovers, but later reunited in their lives and shared two children, 11-year-old Amelie and Minnie, eight.
Rachel recently revealed on Roxie Nafousi’s The Moments That Made Me podcast: ‘We were child loves. We went out with each other when we were 12, we met at youth club and I was kissed with him!
“We probably went out for about four weeks and if you were that age, it would have been very long!”
She added: ‘We then went on dates again when we were about 16 and then again when we were 18 and then we parted ways, you know, of course I went out and did my thing, he went down and did his thing .
‘Years and years later I was random in Selfridges and he walked in and we ran into each other. We were both in our late 20s and strangely enough he said as he walked in: “I know I’m going to see you,” he knew he was going to see me … ‘
The couple’s wedding was attended by her S Club 7 bandmates Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O’Meara, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole and Tina Barrett, and the couple walked down the aisle to the band’s hit Never Had A Dream Come True.
