The trailblazing American rap rock band was originally scheduled to headline the festivals in 2020, but had to postpone their performance due to the Covid pandemic.
They officially stopped the rescheduled event on Thursday as frontman Zack De La Rocha was out of action last month following an injury.
The festival, which will take place at the two locations between August 26 and 28, was quick to announce that The 1975 would be taking their slot.
Some ticket holders felt that the Cheshire pop group, fronted by Matt Healy, were not suitable replacements due to their vastly different musical style.
Many took to social media to express their frustration and wonder how they could get their money back.
“Not impressed!” enraged a person on Twitter. ‘You went from Rage Against the Machine to The 1975? How do I get my money back?”
“This is a substantial change [to the line-up]according to the terms and conditions, I’d like a refund,” agreed for a second.

Ticketmaster responded to some of the tweets, stating that the lineup change is not eligible for a refund.
“It’s not a RATM show – it’s Reading & Leeds festival,” they replied to a disgruntled music fan.
“Unfortunately, under the event terms of sale, changes to the lineup of a multi-artist event, such as a festival, may make a booking ineligible for a refund. Thank you!”
