Rebekah Vardy and her husband Jamie are reportedly preparing to evacuate their luxury villa in Portugal after being caught by terrifying wildfires.

in the middle of the heat wave across Europewildfires have raged in Portugal, France and Croatia, evacuating homes and threatening livelihoods.

In Portugal, the fires of most concern were near the town of Pombal.

Rebekah, who is currently on holiday in Portugal, shared a photo of the orange sky and wrote in Portuguese: ‘I wake up very grateful for the fire brigade who work tirelessly and risk their lives to save ours. Thank you. Thinking of everyone. Very scary.’

The 40-year-old also shared a video of a helicopter carrying water, writing, “These guys are incredible.”

A source said of the Vardys: “It was horrible. Their neighbors have all been evacuated and one by one residents are being told to leave their homes.

She added to The Sun: ‘Becky sees smoke everywhere and she is terrified that the children will breathe it in. The water is also low, so she relies on bottled water, of which there is only a finite amount at home.’

“Jamie and their friends and family back home were all very concerned. Things are evolving by the hour, but she’s praying that the fire brigades, who have been brilliant, can get things back under control.”

Temperatures in Portugal have risen to 43C, with Prime Minister Antonio Costa issuing a warning.

He told reporters: “We have to be very careful: a small mistake can cause another huge tragedy. The answer does not lie in more ‘resources’ (firefighters, water bombing, etc.) but in more care. Fire does not come about by itself, it is always caused by the human hand.’

Alan Shearer, who is on holiday in Portugal’s Vilamoura region, has also documented the horrific fires, describing them as “incredible.”

“I’ve never seen anything like it, it’s just getting along,” he said. “This is the roundabout at Gareth Southgate’s house… Jesus Christ! Someone has to get here quickly.’
