Red Arrows time today: where can you see the Red Arrows flying in the UK | UK | News

Only the best pilots are chosen to fly the world-famous Royal Air Force aircraft, known for their spectacular aerobatic shows. Based at RAF Scampton, the Red Arrows have entertained the public since 1965 with a total of nearly 5,000 displays. Today the Red Arrows take to the skies – but where can you watch them?

Where can you see the Red Arrows today?

There will be a Red Arrows display at the Wales National Airshow in Swansea today at 1.50pm.

As they fly over Swansea Bay, the Red Arrows will be in action, showing off their best aerobatic moves for spectators.

Other displays in the show include a Battle of Britain commemoration flight and an RAF Chinook will also be on display.

As always with air shows, times are subject to change due to weather and other factors.

The Red Arrows will depart Exeter at 1.34pm, before flying over Cullompton, Bratton Fleming, Horton, Pontyates, Tycroes and Pontlliw before returning to the Swansea air show.

They then return to Exeter, departing by sea at approximately 1:51 PM, but diving back inland to cross Triscombe, Taunton and Holmsleigh Green, before landing in Exeter around 2:34 PM.

Locals and visitors to Devon can also see the famous nine in Teignmouth at the Teignmouth Airshow.

According to the organisers, the exhibition times are expected between 2 and 6 pm and an RAF Lancaster will also appear.

For the Teignmouth air show, the Red Arrows will depart Exeter at 4.50pm, just west of Cullompton, northwest of Witheridge, west of Throwleigh and near Chudleigh Knighton before joining the display at 5pm.

The return flight takes the Red Arrows back by sea before landing in Essex at 5:30 PM.

This year marks the 58th season of the Red Arrows and the calendar is the busiest since 2018.

RAF pilots completed an intensive training program before the season started to ensure the team is in top condition for the busy schedule.

This year there will be a new 20 minute formation in honor of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as the team visit 65 venues in the UK and abroad.

Squadron Leader Tom Bould said: “The new show features many loops, rolls and shapes with our signature patriotic red, white and blue trails, marking this important year and the very best of the British.

“As a team, the Red Arrows are delighted to be exhibiting at a range of events in the UK and abroad – in what has the potential to be the team’s busiest season of shows since pre-pandemic.”

All pilots have flown Typhoon jets before joining the Red Arrows as part of their service with the Royal Air Force.

The Red Arrows were first shown to the public this year at the jubilee celebrations on June 2, when they flew over Buckingham Palace.

Training for 2022 began at RAF Scampton last year, when the pilots took to the air about three times a day, five days a week.

More than 100 support staff are involved to keep the team running smoothly throughout the year and consistently performing at its best.

On Sunday, the Red Arrows will make an appearance at Silverstone for the British F1 Grand Prix, and a second appearance at the Wales National Airshow in Swansea will be made.
