The Red Hot Chili Peppers canceled their Glasgow performance on Friday night due to ‘illness’ just hours before they were to perform.
The rockers made the announcement on social media and promised to reschedule, but did not give further details about what made the group sick.
A statement posted on their social media account read: ‘Due to illness, RHCP will not be able to perform in Glasgow on 1 July tonight. We are working on ways to reschedule.
‘Please hold on to you tickets and waiting for an update soon. RHCP loves Scotland and is deeply disappointed not to be able to put on the show.
“Thank you for understanding. (sic) ‘
The concert, which would be held in Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park, would have been the group’s first performance since 2016 in the city.
They recently played against sold out crowds in Manchester, London and Dublin.
The cancellation of the performance comes after another recent accident on the tour.
Rihanna’s rapper boyfriend A $ AP Rocky was supposed to be a support act on one of the group’s shows on tour, but it was so late that the group had to perform in front of him.
The 33-year-old rapper would follow the opening of Thundercat at the concert at Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford last week.
But as he ran so behind schedule, frontman Anthony Kiedis and co were forced to play his lock.
This led to the unprecedented situation in which ASAP Rocky eventually became the main character, much to the dismay of RHCP fans.
One wrote on Twitter: ‘Have been going to shows for 30 years and have never seen anything like it. Very disappointed fans. Bizarre end of the night. ‘
Another joked: “Do you think as soon as possible rocky did not want to play Manchester because he is still upset that Liam Gallagher called him whatsapp Ricky.”
Another said: ‘Looking at the place empty when he arrived was very uncomfortable, can not believe I spent £ 90.’
It is not currently known why Rocky’s set was delayed.
The 50,000 crowd was notified of the exchange on signs in the venue, which read: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, A $ AP Rocky will now play immediately after the Red Hot Chili Peppers.”
