A 91-year-old man determined to get his family’s missing dog back has been offered a £15,000 reward – and now has a host of celebrities backing him.

Jim Scott was heartbroken when three-year-old Border Terrier Flossie went missing last September.

Ten months after Flossie’s disappearance, Scott’s call to track her down is backed up by Countdown’s disappearance. Rachel RileyVera actress Brenda Blethyn and crime writer Ann Cleeves.

The famous trio all shared his online post and Mr Scott’s call to find her has been seen by 1.5 million people.

Mr Scott’s daughter Gill Keeley told the Northumberland GazetteHe was so upset about Flossie’s disappearance and recently asked if he could do anything to help, which led to the posts.

“He’s so excited that his call has reached 1.5 million people, which is 10 times more than any other post we’ve posted before, and with celebrity retweets.

“His love for Flossie seems to have really touched people’s hearts.”

Flossie ran off as Mrs. Keeley and her husband Nick took her for a walk over the sand dunes between Seaton Sluis and Blyth, Northumberland.

Mrs. Keeley said, ‘She went off the path into the bushes and we never saw her again. We had driven there and were about 9 miles from home.

“I was in a wheelchair because I broke my leg a few weeks earlier. I don’t think there was a day when anyone in this group didn’t do anything to find Flossie.”

In the ten months since the incident, the family has used endoscopes to search rabbit hutches in case Flossie gets lost, as well as keeping night vigils and searching the sand dunes.

After handing out hundreds of stickers, posters and flyers, the call is now reaching a wider audience.

Mr. Scott lives alone and cherished seeing Flossie.  Among her features, she has striking white front legs.

Ms Keeley added: ‘The loss of Flossie has broken my father’s heart and he always asks if she’s back yet.

“He used to come over with treats for her and he’s devastated that he doesn’t know where she went.

“My dad has always had dogs and he feels like part of his life was taken when Flossie went missing.”
