Rhode Island fire: Huge cloud of smoke engulfs wooden furniture store goes up in flames | USA | News

An inferno has engulfed a wood furniture store in the US, sparking a massive emergency response. Video shows a crane above the red brick Knock On Wood Furniture store on Lonsdale Avenue in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

In the clip, firefighters can be seen using a crane and multiple fire engines to fight the blaze.

Smoke billows from both sides of the furniture store.

The store has been in the Lincoln area for over 25 years.

It comes just hours after a fire broke out in the attic of a Providence home that forced five residents to evacuate.

Firefighters were called to the house on Superior Street, where they worked to put out the flames in the attic.

Officials told NBC 10 News that no injuries were reported, but five people on the second floor were displaced as a result.

Meanwhile, the first “snow” fell in coastal communities in Rhode Island on Thursday morning.

Pictures of graupel were seen in Westerley shortly before dawn.

Often confused with snow, graupel is a type of precipitation that forms when a snowflake collides with a supercooled water droplet to form a “snow pellet.”

The wintry squall came from a swath of lake-effect snow stretching from the Great Lakes to Connecticut, a by-product of the strong gusts from the west.
