Rishi Sunak vows to tackle ‘wakeful bullshit’ and ‘left-wing agitators’

R

ishi sunak has vowed to review the Equalities Act to end the “savage nonsense” it has “made pervasive in public life”.

While claiming that he has “no interest in fighting a so-called culture war”, the Tory leadership pledged hopefully to “end the brainwashing, vandalism and finger pointing” and “protect British freedoms” if he becomes prime minister.

In his latest policy announcement to court Tory party members who will decide whether he or his rival… Liz Truss To get the keys to No. 10, Mr. Sunak pledged to stand up to “left-wing agitators”.

The former chancellor, a father of two daughters, wants to preserve gender-related words such as “wife” or “mother” by ensuring that sex means biological sex in the 2010 Equality Act, and clarifying that gender self-identification has no legal force.

Too often existing legislation is used for social engineering that no one has given permission for

Mr Sunak made this goal clear earlier in the first public policy pledge of his leadership bid, when he said he would oppose allowing biological men to compete against women in sports and to protect same-sex services.

He also wants to strengthen legal guidelines for schools on how they teach about sex and relationships so that students are “protected from inappropriate material”.

Mr Sunak also pledged to protect freedom of expression by amending the public sector equality obligation, which requires government agencies to consider discrimination.

This would be to ensure that organizations are “open and welcoming” to people of different political opinions and religious and philosophical worldviews, “end practices such as no-platforming,” his campaign said.

He was expected to bring supporters in West Sussex on Saturday that his government would “protect our shared cultural, historical and philosophical heritage”.

“What’s the point of putting the bulldozers in the green belt if we allow left-wing agitators to bulldoze our history, our traditions and our fundamental values?

“Whether it’s tearing down statues of historical figures, replacing the school curriculum with anti-British propaganda, or rewriting the English language so that we can’t even use words like ‘man’, ‘woman’ or ‘mother’ without hearing that we are offending someone?

“We are not the aggressors; we have no interest whatsoever in waging a so-called culture war.

“But we are determined to end the brainwashing, vandalism and pointing fingers.

“Too often existing legislation is used for social engineering that no one has given permission for.

“The worst offender in this regard is the 2010 Equality Act, conceived in the dog days of the last Labor government.

“It has been a Trojan horse that has allowed every kind of waking nonsense to permeate public life.

“It has to stop. My government would review the law to ensure we maintain legitimate protections while stopping mission creep.

“Our laws must protect freedom of speech, prevent biological men from participating in women’s sports and allow children to be children.”

Ms Truss has also spoken out for same-sex spaces, telling a large audience on Thursday that she supports policies that guarantee schoolgirls can go to a toilet in a safe environment.

“I’ve been very clear that single-person spaces need to be protected,” she said.
