Rita prays managed to avoid any mention of her ‘wedding’ with Taika Waititi while making a live TV appearance where she made a hilarious gaffe about a peach and what she said was a “dusty apple.”
Today The Big Breakfast made its highly anticipated return to Channel 4 with the dynamic duo of Mo Gilligan and AJ Oduduafter the huge success of last year’s one-off special.
The first show was back with an amazing lineup of stars, including the return of Big Breakfast veteran Denise Van Outen, Love Island winners Ekin-Su Cülcüoğlu and Davide Sanclimenti and Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya.
At one point, Rita made a virtual appearance with musician Netsky to promote their new single Barricades, with the singer tuning in to her venue from 3 a.m. via a video message.
After discussing the many snacks she hides under her desk on The Masked Singer, Rita took an “apple” from her fruit bowl and brought it right in front of the camera, complaining about how “dusty” it looked.
But AJ then felt the need to tell Rita the truth, adding, “I’m sorry to tell you — that’s a peach, not an apple.”
Rita squinted at the peach in shock at this revelation, completely oblivious to the fact that it was a very different fruit.
“Rita is clearly a lady who doesn’t go to the grocery store,” Mo joked, before she and Netsky said goodbye to everyone in the Big Breakfast studio.
Fans may have hoped Rita would spill the beans on her apparent marriage to Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika after it was reported that she tied the knot in a ‘secret, intimate ceremony’ in London.
Rita’s good friend and hairstylist James Brown apparently confirmed on social media that the couple had exchanged their vows and shared congratulations to ‘Mrs Waititi Ora’.
Despite there being no wedding chat, fans loved Rita’s peach-apple mix, with one tweet: “Rita Ora thought a peach was a ‘dusty apple.’ She lives on her own planet. I love her.’

The Big Breakfast is already the gift that keeps on giving.
