Royal fans believe Nigeria's First Lady is being targeted Meghan Markle for her choice of clothing during her three-day visit to the West African countryduring her speech at an event titled “Celebrating the Woman”.
First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, spoke at an event organized to mark President Bola Tinubu's first year in office, to recognize how women have made significant contributions to all aspects of life.
She highlighted how Nigerian children are at risk of losing their identity if necessary steps are not taken. Broadcast on Arise News and shared on Xin part of her speech she said: “We are not having a Met Gala. The nudity is just everywhere, and the men are well dressed. So we have to do something. Tell them that we don't accept nudity in our culture. That's not nice. It's not pretty at all.”
She added: “They need to be confident in who they are. They don't have to imitate and emulate movie stars from America. They don't know where they come from. Why did Meghan come here looking for Africa? We know who we are. Don't lose who you are.”
After the speech, one royal fan wrote on X: “Meghan Markle managed to create an international incident! We warned her about the clothes.”
Meghan's wardrobe for the visit is estimated cost approximately £120,000 ranging from a peach-colored backless dress by Heidi Merrick to a strappy print dress by Johanna Ortiz.
Prince Harry and Meghan had been invited to the West African country by the top military official to highlight the issues they care about most – including the Invictus games. After meeting the official, Christopher Musa, at Nigeria's defense headquarters, Meghan signed a guestbook thanking the officials for “welcoming me home.”
