  • Samsung has started rolling out the August 2022 security updates in parts of Europe.
  • The Galaxy S20, S20 and S22 phones are the first to receive the updates.
  • More markets will receive the patch in the coming days and weeks.

Samsung continues to deliver on its promises when it comes to timely updates. At the time of writing, it’s only July 29, but that doesn’t stop Samsung from rolling out the August 2022 security updates early. According to android police the update has touched the lucky owners of the Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21or Galaxy S22 telephones in Germany. Other markets will likely get similar updates soon.

According to the changelog, there don’t seem to be any new features or improvements in this update. It is mainly aimed at improving the security of the phone along with the vague statement, “Overall stability of features improved”.

Depending on your wireless carrier’s schedule, it may take a few weeks for this OTA update to be available for any smartphone currently supported by Samsung. If you think the update is available in your region, just tap the Settings app on your Samsung phone, then select Software updateand finally tap the Download and install selection. If the update is available, it should be downloaded soon. If not, then you can just wait for your carrier to send a notification to your phone that the update is ready.

It’s great to see Samsung proactive with updates, even better Google every now and then. After all, this is the gold standard that we would like to see from all Android phone manufacturers.
