TL; DR

  • The Samsung Galaxy S23 camera may have the same telephoto lenses as the 2022 model.
  • It is possible that other lenses may see improvements, but it is not yet clear.
  • However, the Galaxy S23 Ultra can see a big boost in photography performance.

All phones in the Galaxy S series have telephoto lenses since 2020. Each year, however, the telephoto lenses did not change. The Galaxy S22 was the first to finally be the forerunner and offers a newer 10MP sensor with 3x optical zoom.

While this is amazing, it seems that Samsung can return to its old habit. It can reuse the latest telephoto lenses on the Samsung Galaxy S23 camera. According to a new rumor from Galaxy Clubcan land the 10MP / 3x sensor you get in the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra again in 2023.

Now, that’s just a rumor, so take it was a grain of salt. However, it makes sense for Samsung to do so. It does not have to update the telephoto lenses every year. Similarly, the one we saw on the Galaxy S22 series was quite amazing. However, this means that if you are looking forward to progress in this area, you are unlikely to get it in 2023.

Of course, Samsung can upgrade other aspects of the Samsung Galaxy S23 camera systems. The main and ultra-wide sensors, for example, can see some improvements.

One rumor we have repeatedly heard is that Samsung may be introducing a 200MP main sensor to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. If so, it would be one of the most important camera upgrades to the series since the very first Ultra phone landed in 2020.

Stay tuned for more leaks related to the Samsung Galaxy S23 camera, among others. As we get closer to the end of the year, there will definitely be more and more rumors flying around.
