huhhello and welcome to Wimbledon coverage on the biggest day of Cameron Norrie’s career to date.
The British number 1 is one win away from reaching the final of his home grand slam. The person standing in his way – defending champion Novak Djokovic. Norrie and Djokovic played just once before, at the ATP Finals last November, where the Serb lost just three games.
“Obviously it will be difficult against Novak, but I’m looking forward to the challenge,” said Norrie. “I think I’m going to bring it to him. I think the last time I played against him in Turin in another big tournament, he played really well and I think I learned a lot from that. I think I It’s going to approach a little bit differently tactically.”
Djokovic is currently making an incredible run of Center Courts with 37 wins in a row, the longest in the tournament’s history. He hasn’t lost there since Andy Murray defeated him in the 2013 final – his two other defeats since then were at Court 1. Djokovic’s run is also longer than Rafael Nadal’s winning streak over Phillipe Chatrier at the French Open.
“We played indoors… only one encounter we had,” said Djokovic. “Obviously, different circumstances, different tournament(s) environment than what it would be playing here at Wimbledon at Center Court, semi-finals of a slam in his country. I know what to expect… in terms of public support.
“Again, there is not much for him to lose. Any win from now on is a big problem for him. I know that. But I have practiced a few times. I know his game well. He has been there. Of course I will do your homework and get ready.”
