The Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Labor Party (LP) in Benue state have formed an alliance ahead of the 2023 elections.
SDP state chairman Engr John Enemari told reporters on Monday 11 July that his entire executive branch is throwing their weight behind the Labor Party in Benue state ahead of the 2023 polls.
Party leaders in 276 electoral divisions of the state’s 23 local government areas have been tasked with supporting the LP for Good Governance to restore the bourgeoisie’s socio-economic fortunes.
Enemari who also noted that the crisis at the national level of the party has destabilized everything in all the states of the federation, adding that the crisis has created factions and they cannot continue to suffer for them at the national office, especially Benue SDP , as they did in 2018/2019.
He said;
“The man, Herman Hembe, coming up is a young man who has done very well in his constituency. This is his fourth time in the National Assembly. My people call me, chairman, where do you want us to go, I said look, wait, I’ve met him and we’ve talked, so my people, we’re going to work with him.
“If you don’t win an election for a party, what do you do? Now that they’re in court, let them carry on, Benue is not an income generating state for them. Benue needs good governance now, we cannot sit still, we must work with people of integrity to save the state.
“I consulted the APC and PDP with all the other parties, but that didn’t work, because one was being chased with legal issues and the other with integrity issues. Since we did not have a candidate for governor, we have decided to give our full support and ensure that LP wins in Benue state and save the state from the infrastructure shortage and failed promises.”
dr. Jude Nyor, a Senior Legislative Assistant to the LP governor candidate in Benue, Herman Hembe, praised the development and also said the SDP is a good party that understands where the country is going.
Nyor called on others to join LP because 2023 is the party to beat and they would take Benue out of the woods by rebuilding it and making it great again.
