Search for violent offender accidentally released from prison

Olik are on the hunt for a violent offender after he was accidentally released from a London jail.

Rayon Newby, 20, was allowed to walk free HMP Thamesidewhere he was serving a sentence on March 17 for assault, harassment and burglary.

Police issued a public appeal on Friday for help locating him, urging people “not to approach” him if he is seen.

Newby is from East London and has connections to Tower Hamlets and Ilford.

He is black, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, heavily built, and has a hole in his left ear. He speaks with a London accent.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “The public is asked not to approach Newby. Anyone who sees him, or knows where he is, should call 911 or tweet @MetCC quoting reference CAD 3195/30Mar.
