Serious injuries in North Canterbury crash

A person has been airlifted to Christchurch hospital after an accident in North Canterbury that left two of the occupants of a car trapped.

Fire and Emergency responded to the crash shortly before 11 a.m., which involved two cars on Starvation Hill Rd near Oxford.

St John sports director Lyn Crosson said two people were trapped in one vehicle and needed rescue when staff arrived, police and St John were also present.

St John confirmed that a total of six patients were involved in the crash, two of whom were seriously injured.

One patient was flown to Christchurch Hospital, another in serious condition was taken by an ambulance along with two other patients in moderate condition.
