A baby goat in the race to break a world record for the longest ears is even more likely to have grown taller in less than three weeks.
Simba was born in Karachi in mid-June, Pakistanwith long ears that stretched 19 inches.
But now, less than three weeks later, they have grown five centimeters again.
Breeder Mohammad Hasan Narejo says he has approached Guinness World Records to see if his indictment can be listed as the greatest of all time, although a category for “long-standing goat” is not currently on the organization’s website.

Breeder Mohammad Hasan Narejo (pictured with Simba) says he has approached Guinness World Records to see if his charge could be listed as the greatest of all time, although there is currently no “longest-eared goat” category on the website of the organization state.
“Within 10 to 12 days of his birth, he appeared in all national and international media – and he won a beauty contest,” says a proud Narejo.
“Within 30 days he became so popular that even a famous personality would take 25 to 30 years to reach this level of fame.”
Simba’s ears are so long that Narejo has to fold them over his back to prevent the goat from stepping on them.
He also designed a harness so Simba can wear the long lobes around his neck.
Wary of the attention Simba has drawn — including from rival breeders — Narejo has resorted to prayer and tradition to try to ward off any ill will.
“We recite Qur’anic verses and blow on him to dispel the evil eye,” Narejo said.

“According to a long tradition inherited from our elders, we have attached a black thread around him reinforced with Qur’anic verses.”
Narejo plans to raise Simba as a stud to promote Pakistan’s image as one of the best goat farms.
“Simba’s name Pakistan should be floating around the world,” he said.
Simba’s long ears are probably the result of a gene mutation or genetic disorder, but he seems to get along just fine.

Goats generally have long ears, but Nubian goats, said to be the breed of Simba, have the longest ears of all species.
Goat ears serve a very important purpose as they help to keep them cool in high temperatures.
In Pakistan, temperatures vary due to the varying terrain, but in summer peak temperatures can reach 47C.
Fortunately for Simba, temperatures are usually considerably lower than that – but still very hot, regularly reaching the mid-thirties in the summer.
